One of the great joys of moving to Paris has been discovering its extraordinary galleries and flea markets. I met Harold years ago while searching for someone to help stage our showroom, and ever since, he's been my trusted source for uncovering unique pieces for my home, our showrooms, and now our upcoming pop-ups.
His design knowledge is unmatched, he's always up for a creative exchange, and above all, he has an incredible eye. Honestly, there are days I wish I had his job.
Last week, with Paris offering a hint of summer in the middle of spring, I carved out a rare moment to wander through the flea market. Below is a short list of my favorite shops Harold took me to.
The best part of browsing flea markets, something I used to do every Saturday with my mother as a child—is the thrill of discovery. Falling in love with a new artist or designer, and then dreaming about the moment you might finally own that one piece that captured your imagination. Running home and googling that designer's life and work and then of course ordering every and any book I could find on him or her.
And of course, true to form, I discovered and fell for a piece that had already been sold and that I couldn't afford anyway so, phew! The designer's name is Kim Moltzer. I was immediately taken with his shelving pieces, but what truly stole my heart was this chair. I'll be coveting this one for years to come.
